Silk was born Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the daughter Peter, an educator and an actor and playwright who is a top performer. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. The earliest memories of Anna included going to rehearsals, and then watching her mother work. Silk was featured in a variety of commercials as just a child. She was in 1997 when she received a bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas has produced two productions in the initial years: Seven Menusand The Kitchen. Silk moved to Toronto to pursue her acting profession in November 1999. She later, in the decade that followed, she relocated into Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an acting workshop in Los Angeles in 2007. They got married at the civil ceremony on the 10th of December 2009, after becoming engaged. Following her conversion to Judaism the couple renewed their wedding vows during a Jewish ceremony on the 10th of April 2011.
